Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On May 17, 2020, an unidentified Nigerian man died in a tragic accident, after the small motorbike he was driving was hit by a car at Tapang market, street 136, Sangkat Psar Thmei3, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

Before the incident, the victim was driving a Today motorbike, plate no. PP1GW-0123, on street 51, until a Ford car driven at high speed smashed into the motorbike, causing the victim to get seriously injured.
After the accident, the car driver didn't stop and drove the car away from the scene to escape. The Nigerian man was put into an ambulance, but he died on the way to the hospital.

The police checked the accident scene, where they found a car number plate on the ground, and they are searching for the suspect through the car plate Cambodia MZT 0818 that was apparently left by the hit and run driver.

It will depend who it was as to how it will be treated by competent authorities

Given the new law allowing personalised plates this car and its owner shouldn’t be that hard to find. But, as others have said, depends who it is and who they claim was driving... easy enough to find a fall-guy.

He'll say that he foolishly left the keys in the ignition, and his car was stolen. He would have been seen on cameras all over town and will get caught lying. Probably drunk at the time. I rarely ride my moto after 6:30 pm because of drunks. That number plate was a piece of luck.

Are we to believe that they have not located the driver/owner yet?
