Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the evening of May 2, 2020, at 9:10 pm, a 20-year-old woman, a worker at Wing Shop, hit a car and passed out while she was chasing some phone snatchers, on Russian Federation road, Sangkat Katab 2, Khan Porsenchey, Phnom Penh. She left a bag of cash containing nearly 40,000 USD in the motorbike seat.

The victim explained that she was driving a motorbike to take the Wing money for exchange, and on the way, she was using her phone while she was riding. Suddenly, there were six suspects on three motorbikes who snatched her phone and drove away. She tried to chase after the thieves, but she got knocked out when she hit a car, and was sent to a private clinic for treatment immediately.

The local people said they took the motorbike key to unlock the seat to search for the victim's ID card, and they also found a black plastic bag under the seat. When they checked the bag, and they saw it contained four wads of US $100 notes. So then, the good Samaritans took the money to the clinic to return it to the woman.

The police went to check the accident and reported to the local police to take the motorbike to the clinic and question the victim, who confirmed to the police that she had been victim of a phone snatching, and that she was carrying 37,000 USD in her motorbike seat. After she recovered, the woman received the money and her motorbike from the police, who held her affairs for safe keeping while she was in the clinic.

She pretty much brought all this on herself. She is one lucky bint to only get a bump on the noggin. Hopefully it knocked some sense into her, doubt it though.
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

Without even mentioning being on the phone while riding a moto, how do you chase them down at high speed knowing you've got almost 40k under the seat? It's a close run thing as to which action is more stupid.

Is it just my cynical nature, or has that article just painted a big target on the backs of Wing workers who leave the shop with any sort of package and put it in the seat storage area. $40k is no chump change...

People often round up numbers, it's not unusual especially when it would make no difference in this case.
