Chinese Man Talked Down From Suicide Threat

Cambodia news, Sihanoukville: On the evening of 25 April 2020, a Chinese man suspected of having a mental disorder crawled out of a window of his 8th floor room and walked along the ledge outside, above the street. The incident occurred around 6pm at a hotel located on what used to be called the Serendipity Beach road, leading down to the island ferry pier in Sihanoukville's Occheuteal area.
Witnesses said that the Chinese man appeared distraught; he was pacing up and down on the ledge holding his telephone and gesturing in a desperate manner. They said that it looked like he was going to jump so they called the police. The Sihanoukville Provincial Gendarmerie then arrived and intervened in time.
At the scene, military officials said they had yet to inquire into the motive behind the man's attempt to jump, but he was taken to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Station for further investigation.
