Why would anyone gamble online? I never understood this.

If you go to a casino and play blackjack or roulette you can physically see the cards being turned or the little ball bounce around the wheel.

You know (or ought to know) that the odds are stacked against you over the long term but you can get lucky and have a win now and then. If you then walk out and never return you might actually beat the house.

But when you are playing with a computer, the card or the little ball is just in your imagination. The images you see are just pixels of light being controlled by the people who stand to lose if you win. Do people just accept those as a random result of them pressing the 'play' key, or whatever they do to start losing money?

It's like playing heads or tails for money, but with no coin - just the person you are playing it with deciding if it is a head or a tail. Would you play that game? **

Am I missing something?

** if you would, please PM me right away.

Yes. What you're describing is what online casinos looked like in their infancy in the late 90's and early 00's. Now an online casino is basically just a video feed to a real casino. You see a real person dealing real cards in real time, and they interact with you to prove it. Gambling is still dumb and I don't encourage it or condone it, but there's nothing inherently more dumb about doing it via a video feed than in an actual casino.

Oh ok. So who are those people in the pictures? What is their role in the operation? Where is the actual casino and why, if online gambling is illegal here, don't they just go somewhere that it is illegal?
