Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Two suspects were arrested for theft at a massage parlor in Daun Penh district near Kandal Market, after a British man, Lewis Simon Mail, filed a complaint with police.
The victim went to the Kandal Market police station and told them that on the night of 27 February he had been robbed of US$400 at a massage joint located on Street 154, Sangkat Phsar Kandal 1, Daun Penh. He said that he only realised that the money was missing when he got back to his hotel, which was also on Street 154. When he went back to ask for his money, the manager offered him $150 to go away, so he decided to report the crime to the police.

Could be a carefully calculated scam by the Brit on an innocent massage shop.

I'm dubious.

Leaving a joint without checking your wallet - then coming back...

The alleged 'perps' don't look the hardened types. The alleged victim doesn't look at all like a victim...

Seems staged...

Naaaah - I'm calling BS

Yeah sure, it's all a big gimmick by the Brit to rob some hapless victim...

We have all seen loads of scams by the massage ladies....

For some reason this just appears somewhat strange...

Maybe it just sticks out like his thumb...

It's not complicated and you can't really lose anything.

OK, maybe it was something like this: he missed $200 from his wallet, went back, claimed it was $400, massage boy says "take $150", he doesn't comply, goes to police maintaining $400 was missing, massage lady was forced to pay that $400 (hence the crying, she 'only' stole $200...).

BTW, that begs the question how do police check 'victims' story? ATM withdrawal slip only minutes before he entered the massage shop?

Still, WHY OH WHY are people taking in more than say $50 into a massage parlour? Unless you're expecting some extra special service, of course, but even then in most places...

Possible, I guess. Assuming that this is true, no sympathy from me for her! If she did steal $200 and got "scammed" in the process, she can cry a river as far as I'm concerned.

If this were proven, however, then obviously the perpetrator of the scam (the theft victim) should also be punished.

This massage crime has happened so many times in Phnom Penh why are people even questioning the victim on here?

Absolutely. It's called 'karma'.

Of course. That's why I wondered how his story is checked.
