3 convicts sentenced to 20 years in prison for murder of a young man in Prey Veng

Phnom Penh: The Supreme Court on June 6, 2022, sentenced three convicts to 20 years in prison each in connection with a premeditated murder, where they ambushed the victim, broke both his legs and beat him until he died in an attack in Chong Krouch village, Prey Veng province. The attackers were charged with "premeditated murder" under Article 200 of the Penal Code and arrested in 2017.

Mr. Khim Pon, Chief Judge of the Supreme Court, stated that the three prisoners were:
1- Poeun Pi, male, 18 years old.
2- Mimit, male, 22 years old.
3-Mak Bo, male, 28 years old.

The victim, Ry Dara, male, 20 years old, resided in Chong Krouch village, Reap commune, Pearang district, Prey Veng province.

In this case, the Prey Veng Provincial Court on September 23, 2020 sentenced the three men to 20 years in prison each and ordered them to jointly pay 50 million Riels to the victim's family.

don't seem right to me they'll all be out when still young men and have their lives ahead of them after taking this young guys life in such a violent act seems to me life in prison would have been more fitting
