Cambodia is Introducing (Paying) Personalized Car Plates

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport on the afternoon of January 7, 2020 officially opened the sale of customized car registration number.plates, giving the public the option of choosing a custom license plate. The most popular number plates will be sold by auction, netting the Ministry possibly between 2 million and up to a billion riel for the most sought after number plates.
There are some rules to follow, and according to the Minister of Public Works, this special license plate does not allow the application of certain names, such as pornography, temple names, government leaders and other institutions, but the bidding is done through the automation system in the gallery or online at: vehicle.mpwt.gov.kh, and the highest bidder will get the license plate of their dreams.
The sale of customized license plates is a measure to boost the Cambodian economy, according to the Ministry.

How much for the special invisible plate that was supposed to be banned last year but is readily displayed 9or not) on a dodgy motor near you.
Cannot really see why a Khmer would want to buy a plate so s/he can be easily identified after running over 14 motorbikes on the way home from the KTV
