That's a Soviet AKM and not the usual Chinese Type 56 found here. I'm always amazed at how grimy some of these weapons end up, makes me wonder if the barrel has been cleaned out in the past decade?

I have a Chinese model here in Kansas and buy Russian ammo by the case. UPS delivers it in 2-3 days from Cheaper Than Dirt out of Ft. Worth, Texas.
I installed an underfolder stock on it last summer.
A fine weapon.
With the 30 round mag full it is fairly heavy for most people. I sure love mine compared to the composite plastic rifles most people have around here.
I could clean that baby up in no time.

Was it not the main point of the development of the weapon, that it only needed very little maintenance.

You can bury it in your garden for a couple of years, dig it out and it'll still fire once the dirt is knocked out of it.
