Oil Fever as Sihanoukville Canal Fills with Diesel Spillage

Cambodia News, (Preah Sihanouk): On December 29, 2019, in Boeung Veng village, Prey Nup district,there was a collective surprise, when a large crowd of people saw large amounts of diesel flowing through a canal along National Road 3 near the town's square. Once they got over the surprise, then everyone grabbed their containers to collect the free oil.
More than 3,000 liters of diesel was leaked from a storage tank in a station adjacent to the canal due to a technical malfunction, according to the authorities. Town officials have not banned people from going to collect the oil, but urged them to be cautious.
