Re: 10 Chinese Arrested for Kidnapping in Sihanoukville
Can anyone in the CEO Universe remember an example of an expat from Europe, USA, Australia or New Zealand ever kidnapping people in Cambodia?
This kidnapping and extortion has become a daily occurence in Sihanoukville.
Surely, the local police are fed up with this constant bullshit.
You have some poor schlep from France or Finland or USA featured who is taken in for sleeping on the street and overstaying their visas.
Meanwhile, you have chinese people committing serious crimes. Organized crime type crimes.
I am getting ready to sign a new 1 year lease in Siem Reap...I am counting on no casinos being allowed there.
The Khmer landlord fucking me on my lease 2 years ago in Sihanoukville actually did me a favor.

Chinese kidnapping Chinese and it's money lending to cover gambling debts behind it.
Don't hear of it in Phnom Penh so much but Sihanoukville almost every week they round up kidnappers. Seems many of the Chinese in Snooky are learning it's a dangerous game to borrow to try and win back gambling loses.
As more casinos open and more sucker Chinese gamblers arrive can only predict this type of crime will increase!!!!
Can't see how they can stop it.
Closing down online gambling won't stop this crime.
The other side of this story is the winners at the casino. Most have to leave the casino with pocets full of cash. Expect they will be the next target for these criminal gangs.

Russians used to be the "gangsters" of Sihanoukville before. I remember a shooting where russian guys shot multiple shots to turkish guy('s car), and innocent bystander got hurt badly etc. These weren't as frequent happenings like now with the chinese but of course there are now at least ten times more chinese living in Sihahnoukville than russians back in days.BR549 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 4:55 am Can anyone in the CEO Universe remember an example of an expat from Europe, USA, Australia or New Zealand ever kidnapping people in Cambodia?

I don't think there has been yet a case where Chinese has kidnapped/shot/robbed foreigner/local yet so you are safe. I think your biggest worry is locals ripping you at local market.
