CPU in 2020 - 4 specialty teams will work together to combat child abuse

2020 is a big year for CPUs. From the beginning we had three teams working together in this organization. In 2020 we will add another professional team.

1. The Office of Victim Assistance (OVCS), which provides welfare, legal, and medical assistance to victims' families.

2. The Homicide Investigation Team (HIT) is a team of crime investigation specialists, crime scene investigation specialists, and child protection officers and families trained in collaboration with Cambodian police to investigate all Child Sex Abuse in Cambodia

3. Scientific Technical Working Group (FST), which cooperates with the National Police of Cambodia to collect and maintain evidence using the most advanced techniques and techniques.

4. The Cybercrime Prevention Task Force (ICAC) is a qualifying task force that collaborates with the Cambodian National Police to investigate child sex abuse online. ICAC is a new group of CPU specialists.

This holistic approach to child crime has been extremely successful in combating, detecting, and suppressing crimes against children [in Cambodia].

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have assisted the CPU as you have donated, sponsored, volunteered, consulted, trained, international competent forces, and our partners, the Royal Government and the National Police of Cambodia. Together, we have made a good fight against [abuse of] Cambodian children.

CPU Releases 2019 Annual Report

2019 was indeed a very busy year for the CPU with a total of 274 Major Crimes against Children being investigated in cooperation with the CNP. The CPU achieved an overall arrest rate of 87% something to be extremely proud of.

2019 saw the formation of the CPU Forensic Services Team (FIT) headed by Ray Kirwan a forensics expert from Australia. It also saw the formation of Cambodia's first ICAC team (Internet Crimes against Children).

We were extremely pleased to see a reduction in child homicides from 33 in 2018 to 24 in 2019, our Homicide team investigates all child homicides under 15 years old in Cambodia.

I wish to thank all those involved in the CPU from sponsors, donors, supporters, staff, CNP Command and our international Policing Partners. These outstanding results could not be possible without your combined efforts and support.

Once again many thanks from me personally and from the many children we have saved, helped find justice and recover from a child crime in 2019.
