Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): Two men were sent to court for killing a man with an axe at a wedding party on December 8, 2019, in Dong village, Khan Prek Pnoa, Phnom Penh. One of the suspects was the groom at the wedding party.

The groom's guests from Kampot were attending the wedding party, when a group of 6 people(the groom and his guests) grabbed some axes to attack the victim, who was a guest of the bride. The victim died on the way to the hospital.

After the incident, the police arrested two suspects, including the groom, and another man ran away and escaped the police.

Iv seen a few fights at weddings, the odd punch up after to much vimto but axing someone to death is taking it a bit too far, not a good start to a marriage

A bridegroom and two of his accomplices were sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Wednesday and Thursday after being arrested for allegedly killing a guest at his wedding reception on Sunday in Prek Pnov commune in the capital’s Prek Pnov district.

Municipal court spokesman Kuch Kimlong told The Post on Thursday that the 24-year-old groom was still being questioned. “We have not taken further action yet,” he said.

Prek Pnov commune police chief Tim Putheara said before the incident, a guest invited by the bride became angry with the bridegroom’s family, leading to a heated argument that briefly ended after other guests intervened.

A short while later, their argument continued and a fight broke out. Putheara said the enraged groom, his father, brother and two other accomplices then hacked the guest, El San, with an axe. San was hospitalised but later succumbed to his serious head injuries.

As a Brit I am advised that we are the most violent drunks, obviously all this Cambodian axe and sword fighting doesn't get reported outside otherwise I think no doubt who the number one is.

I suspect that the victim said something not very nice about the bride - her husband, father, brother etc all got mad enough to attack a man, and one of them had an axe...
Maybe the victim was an ex-boyfriend, but anyway for sure, the bride is regretting the invitation.

If the groom didn't want to marry her, then isn't it pretty simple to inform the bride and each family of his plan not to go through with the wedding dog and pony show, but if they do, in any event, he would not be present?

Why do these dumb fucks feel the need to hack each other to death, over something as silly as not wanting to get married??

come on, what respectable khmer male wouldn't take a large bladed weapon to a wedding, just in case someone upset someone and you had to chop them up.
