Vietnamese Lottery Sellers Deported by Cambodian Immigration

Svay Rieng, Cambodia News: On November 3, 2019 at 8:30am, the Inspector General of Police in Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province, led by the Deputy Inspector General of Immigration Inspection, inspected and detained 3 Vietnamese nationals crossing into Cambodia. Two men and a woman were accused of coming to the Kingdom of Cambodia in order to sell illegal Vietnamese lottery tickets. Gambling in any form is illegal in Cambodia.

Authorities detained the three Vietnamese for education, made them sign a contract to say they would not try to sell tickets in Cambodia again, and deported them immediately back to their home country.

Another Vietnamese national was deported yesterday from Cambodia for promoting vice and gambling to Cambodians.

Cambodia News (Thbong Khum): On December 13, 2019, the immigration officer of Memot district, Thbong Khmum province, deported a Vietnamese woman back to Vietnam after she was caught selling illegal lottery tickets.

The Vietnamese woman was detained for reeducation by Cambodian authorities, and before being deported, she signed a statement to say that she would never again sell illegal lottery tickets in Cambodia.
