Woman Arrested for Traffic of 18-Month-Old Girl

Cambodia News (Kampong Thom): According to the order of Somdach Krolahom Sor Keng from the Ministry of interior, the department of human trafficking and specialist police made an investigation leading to the arrest of a 30 year old woman factory worker, Thon Thona, for human trafficking.

A 33-year-old woman, Lon Bek, filed a complaint, accusing the suspect of taking her 18-month-old daughter in order to sell her. After receiving the complaint, on November 16, 2019, at 05:00 am, Lieutenant Ouk Kosal, in collaboration with the police of Stong district, arrested the suspect in Kampong Chen Thbong village, Stong district, Kampong Thom.

On November 17, the department of human trafficking and minor protection in Kampong Thom, sent the suspect to the General Department of Human trafficking and Minor protection for legal action.

I can't find any reference to the missing child.

Some reports say sold for 10k, but no further details or pictures of the child back with her mother.

An amber alert was posted on an English language news site which we are not allowed to link to due to CEO policy.

According to what I read, a gentleman purchased the child for $100 but discovered through Facebook that she had been kidnapped and alerted the authorities and the family to return the child to them.

If that's the case, then the ''gentleman '' should have been arrested too.

Seems like the 'sale' thing was rumor.. I don't see any more arrests.. The article about the 10k has black holed.

Anyway here is the pic of the child back albeit with her aunt.

If he has done the right thing and returned the child, I wouldn't.

I agree. Unfortunately it is common practice to buy children here. I don’t condone it, but at least the gentleman with most likely little to no education did not harm the child.
