Fire on 136

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Yep, just down from the corner with st 5. Quite a crowd gathered at 10.45am to watch. A number of fire trucks there with smoke still billowing from the top floor (level 4?). Could see firemen on the balcony on level 3 below.

Mrs Cargo heard anecdotally that the fire was caused by renovation work??

A fire broke out in a French bar in Khan Daun Penh after a welding accident took place and required the use of six fire trucks to extinguish the blaze.

The fire took place at 10 a.m. on February 28 at Street 136, Group 17, Village 12, Sangkat Phsar Kandal I, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

Director of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Office, Col. Prohm Yorn told local news that the owner of the location is Sum Leap. The bar was called Amazing.

"...welding accident took place and required the use of six fire trucks..."

"The fire took place at 10 a.m. on February 28..."

"took place" sounds like it was organised. Occurred?

"The bar was called Amazing."

It is now called Ablazing.

If it feels like it's on fire after visiting street 136, you need to go see a Dr.

I'll show myself to the door.
