Phone Snatch Attempt Against Foreigner Foiled on Phnom Penh's Riverside
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On October 24, 2019, at 4:50 pm, two Cambodian teenagers, Leung Roth, 18 years old, and Heng Kimhong, 18 years old, were arrested for snatching a phone from a Chinese man, on Sisowath Quai, in a tourist area along the riverside in Phnom Penh. The victim was identified as JIANG HAIPENG, a 38-year-old Chinese man, who is staying at Hotel Paragon.
Before the incident, the local police on patrol saw the two suspects snatching a phone from the victim on Preah Sisowath road. The suspects tried to escape, but the police detained them immediately. The suspects and the evidence were sent to the police station for questioning. The police confiscated a motorbike from the thieves, and an Oppo phone which belongs to the victim.
Daun Penh police are searching for the other members of the suspect's team and are preparing the case for court.

I sorry for the tourists for these dirty birds.
No all Khmer do like this ,before we have no stealing, we can build the mighty Ankor Wat with only free worker and elephants.

Must be near a dozen reports of phone and bag snatchings from foreigners on Expats in Cambodia FB page in two long threads yesterday.
One starts with a report from a lady who's 8 months pregnant who watched helplessly while moto thieves ran away with her bag, which contained her passport, phone, money and other belongings. She had to have her passport in order to deposit it for a baby cart at the Aeon 2 mall. She also had her 21-month-old child with her.
Group members chimed in with many very recent incidents that happened to them or friends. One guy who had just bought the latest iPhone got his snatched even after he turned away from the street to be more secure for a map check, but the varmint still raced by, grabbed the phone and knocked the owner over.
Sounds like a serious epidemic.
