PM HE to Purchase Four L-39 Jets from Czech

Prague, Czech (FN), Oct. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister HE announced to buy four more Czech-made Aero L-39 Albatros, speaking in a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Czech Republic Andrej Babis, held on 14 October in Prague, following the bilateral summit.

“Before Cambodia had purchased six L-39 jets. Now, I consider buying three-four more and other light weapons in order to strengthen the kingdom’s defense and security,” the premier stated.

It is worth noting that during the bilateral summit, Prime Minister Andrej Babis praised Cambodia's efforts to maintaining peace and stability under the wise leadership of Prime Minister HE; and that he believed Cambodia will achieve visions of becoming a higher-middle income country by 2030 and a high-income by 2050.

Cambodia established the relations with the former Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia since 18 May 1956. The relations became severed in 1975 during the Khmer Rouge regime, yet reestablished on 7 September 1996 after Czechoslovakia split.

Aero L-39 Albatros
The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer developed in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody. It was designed during the 1960s as a replacement for the Aero L-29 Delfín as a principal training aircraft. It was the first trainer aircraft to be equipped with a turbofan powerplant. The type was exported to a wide range of countries as a military trainer.

The L-39 Albatros later served as the basis for the updated L-59 Super Albatros, as well as the L-139 (prototype L-39 with Garrett TFE731 engine). A further development of the design, designated as the L-159 ALCA, entered production in 1997. To date, more than 2,800 L-39s have served with over 30 air forces around the world. The Albatros is the most widely used jet trainer in the world; in addition to performing basic and advanced pilot training, it has also flown combat missions in a light-attack role.

A mere snip for a 1970's plane at 200k to 300k.

Almost the price of a new SUV in Cambodia.

I am a humble man, so only buying a second hand one
'surprisingly affordable

1985 AERO L-39C ALBATROS
Turbine Military Aircraft
For Sale Price:USD $350,000

Total Time:1338.1
Number of Seats:2
This jet is the complete L-39 package. Armed ejection seats, nicely restored cockpits, comprehensive avionics, integrated smoke system, and a "missile" under each wing complete the jetfighter experience.

I WAS saving for a Prius, but the "missile under each wing" caught my eye - handy for when some street punk puts a beady eye on my phone.

Or when some traffic hoggers take up three lanes.. or stuck behind a tuk tuk race or even double parking nuisances.

I can see it catching on.

I can't see how buying some clapped out fighter jet trainers in any way improves security. The Cambodian Air force has nothing that would be of any use other than as target practice for both it's neighbours.

Thailand's Air Force has, amongst other things, 53 F16's

Vietnam has 46 Sukhoi SU27's

No. These are better. Train a lot of pilots while
doing patrol over the ocean. Those planes can project
all the force that might be needed. Not for dogfighting.
And you can fly them all the time instead of working on them all the time.

I go up in the air-force helicopters here from time to time (the old Mils not the newer Chinese Z9s) - the General on the base is a good man and an excellent Russian trained pilot.

I wish I had the dough to learn.

Great to hear from you.

Post more pics and stories - I'm sure people on here are interested.
