Tuesday morning at 6 AM I was driving with my girlfriend on her motorcycle on street 163 just after the mermaid roundabout. Two men came up quickly from behind and tried to rob us; they failed but unfortunately I crashed in the attempt and my body is pretty beaten up from the fall. My girlfriend landed on top of me so she is fine.

I always wear a GoPro while driving just in case of any problems. I have clear footage of the incident and one of the men's faces and their motorbike and registration number. We went to the police with evidence. They were polite but I don’t feel hopeful.

I definitely don’t want anyone else to have this happen to them as they may have far more serious injuries and it could be far worse (luckily I always wear a full facial crash helmet as when I hit the concrete my face hit first very very hard).

Someone will definitely know these men....

What were they trying to take?

My girlfriend has a very small gold necklace, I have told her so many times to never wear it when she is driving, it was covered up by her jacket she wears but unfortunately they must have seen it...
She will never do it again.

Throw it in the correct FB group, much more exposure.

Wow. t's amazing how fast that all happened. Glad you two are ok. As said above, maybe post your story and footage to FB. Traffic Spy might be a good start.

My Police friends say go to the nearest police to where it happened and file your report - they will do everything they can.

Don't think nothing will happen, it will.

They will action it.

If you need any help you can PM me and someone will come for you and assist you in filing the report.

The photos were very helpful, especially the reg plate.

The police have smartphones and if you transfer to them they will circulate.

i hope you and your GF are OK as it looked very nasty.

This is a good suggestion and traffic Cambodia fb group both have several hundred thousand active Khmer users it is publicity like that that usually gets a public reaction and shames the police into acting

Yes we went to the nearest police station where the incident happened, and the report was filed.
I also contacted the Phnom Penh post this morning and sent them the footage. They replied to me immediately and came to meet me for an interview and I hope the footage will now get maximum exposure.

You are quite right as to how quickly these things can happen.

I strongly urge everyone reading this to make sure they only ride with full facial crash helmets, I wasn’t driving fast and I never do but what shocked me was just how hard my face hit the concrete.....

As mentioned though it is better to give it exposure to Cambodians via FB groups they use it is highly likely through these groups someone will also know them. At its peak PPP had an 8% readership it must be around 2% and mainly foreigners and any officials checking the stories aren't anti-government. Wish you a swift recovery sir and these cowards are brought to justice .

We look forward to the perps faces gracing CEO where they can be mercilessly trolled.

Personally I think the crime should be re-classed as it is clearly causing possible death.

BTW can you post some pics of your 'eat the concrete' face damage, not for ghoulish but to circulate so people understand the gravity of what happened from a human aspect rather than just a simple attempted theft.
