New Road Rules... Passenger Helmets

The 92-article law stipulates mandatory helmet use for all motorbike passengers, including all children above the age of three. Under the current law, only drivers are required to wear helmets.
The new law also aims to tackle the endemic problem of overloaded motorbikes, with a maximum of two adults and one child to be allowed to ride at any one time.
Drunk drivers are also being targeted. Those caught with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.08 per cent will face a hefty minimum fine of $200, up from just $6.25 under the current law. They could also be sentenced to between one and six months in prison if convicted.
Mmmmmm... sweaty used motodop "spare" helmets.

Yet another unenforced/unenforceable law. Only good for robbery season/before festivals.

I wonder when the genius who is minister of transport will realise that it's dangerous for people to drive at night with their lights off?

Khmer logic does not allow such a conclusion. Driving at night with the lights off = saving gasoline, and that of course is perfectly legal

Back to the topic. So now everybody has to wear helmets.....so far so good, but it's a mystery to me that they have never realized that these cheap $ 10 to $ 15 helmets crack and produce sharp splinters if you just drop 'em from a height of 1 meter.
If they wore that one they surely would achieve a better protection.

Any Cambodian will tell you that you do not buy a helmet to protect you in an accident, but from the police.
