Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of Saturday, 9 July 2022, police arrested Mr. Pak Kuntheanaro, General Manager of Machinery Power 2000 EK, in connection with a case of breach of trust and issuing a dud cheque for nearly USD200,000. The accused was handed over to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and was interrogated by Mr. Vong Savath, Deputy Prosecutor of the Court.
According to the police report, Mr. Pak Kuntheanaro was detained by specialized forces on an arrest warrant issued by Mr. Chreng Khmao, the prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, in connection with criminal charges of breach of trust and non-fulfillment of obligations on traded instruments.

The story was that a victim contacted the suspect to buy some machinery from Machinery Power 2000 EK in Phnom Penh, where the owner of the company is HAYRETDIN KUTUKCU as Chairman and Pak Kuntheanaro is the general manager.

The victim placed orders for 13 machines and paid around USD191,130 as first instalment. Then, the Chairman issued two cheques with different dates reserved for payment on time as guarantee. However, when the time came for the money to be paid to the supplier, the company didn’t have the money to do so, and as a result, the machines were not delivered to the victim as agreed. Moreover, the cheques that the company issued to the victim (as guarantee) were in fact unable to be cashed. The victim then filed a complaint to the authorities demanding the arrest of the two suspects.
