Limestone Network, a startup based in Singapore will be utilizing the blockchain technology to help sustain a smart neighborhood in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia.

The neighborhood is around 100 hectares large and will encompass not only residential but also office buildings. The population affected is around 200,000 including pupils from schools and general employees of the area.

Limestone Network will be the one doing most of the heavy lifting but a government agency, Enterprise Singapore has already promised support.

The blockchain will be implemented via a mobile application which will be designed to hold digitalized legal documentation and public transport cards of the local population. However, a comprehensive background check will be required to “qualify” for the app.

The project will be “completed” in early 2022 after which data will be compiled and the overall analysis will be made. Limestone Network has mentioned that they plan to do similar projects all over the world in the next five years

some kind of crypto-currency is accepted everywhere?
and you have to qualify, even though it encompasses a geographic area with an existing population?

While true you could question If this:

is a valid user case for blockchain technology. The result seems these 200.000 people don’t have to use their ‘legal documentation’ And ‘public transport cards’ anymore But can instead use a module app.

There are loads of days these people don’t use their ‘legal documentation’ And probably none of them own a public transport card.

true, but you don't need distributed trust for government/public records
perhaps for public transport crypto-tokens, but why let a private company control that?
"blockchain-powered community" means nothing
it's unclear what they are proposing and whether it makes any sense

Blockchain is an end-to-end ledger for tracking things. I'm guessing they are tracking journeys and cross-referencing that with valid user credentials.

Big words and big money to provide no value. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just imagine your 'public transport card' would be stored in a blockchain with an app using it. That would mean the app could verify with 100% (or at least as close to 100% as you could get) certainty the public transport card stored is the actual public transport card stored and you wouldn't have to carry the card anymore. Instead you could be using the phone with the app when you use the public transport in Phnom Penh.

Of course they could also store the public transport cards in a single, or even in a distributed, database, but in that case the verification security would be closer to 99.999% and the buzz word would be missing.

All that's missing in this case is the public transport in Phnom Penh. But the rest of the idea is great for fundraising. I suggest them to have an STO (ICO's are so 2017) and raise funds to work out this great idea.

I agree blockchain tech can be used but also think as you mentioned above that there are more pressing issues in the KOW such as public transport drivers that don't leg it every time there is an accident, a little bit of tread on the tyres wouldn't go a miss either, mandatory drug testing for anyone transporting the general public ( I know that is stretching it a bit ) !!!!!.
You don't need blockchain tech to pay for PT cards, there are many apps already available for payment using NFC, Apple Pay or QR codes etc

Just my two-penneth worth, Im sure someone will disagree.
