Mass Fainting at Fuma Garment Factory

Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): On July 22, 2019, 20 factory workers collapsed at 08:45 am, at Fuma garment factory, in Tropeang village, Sangkat Chom Chao, Khan Porsenchey, Phnom Penh.
According to one of the victims, a women passed out and that made others scared, and they passed out as well. The victims were sent to the hospital.
The authority said the factory has 700 workers. After 20 people collapsed, the others all got some time off too.

The true reason for the fainting in the Fuma factory in July has come to light at last: "walking too much in the weekend", as mentioned in this article from Khmer Times:
25 December 2019
In July, 36 garment workers fainted at the New Fuma Costume factory in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district due to exhaustion.
“They fainted because they were tired and did not have enough sleep. They walked too much on the weekend, causing them to feel tired and weak when they came back for work,” Captain Theng Kosal, chief of Chom Chao commune police, said at the time.

What the actual fuck is this? Monty python? No wonder Cambodia is among the least productive countries in the region. One worker passed out? Let's send all 700 workers home then. Good luck without the EBA and GSP, Cambodia.

Did they walk to Hanoi and back? The more I read news stories on CEO, the more I understand why Cambodian companies (or companies staffed mainly with Cambodian people) perform so poorly.
Garment workers in Cambodia will get a minimum of $186/ month (~$80/ month in Bangladesh) but only produce a little more than half of what garment workers in Bangladesh produce...

Bangladesh has EBA agreement. with Cambodia and Myanmar, under the situation of the possible loss of EBA, I wonder how long those Chinese investors will be moving their business too a country holding the EBA status.

Several Chinese companies are considering moving production to Bangladesh. The only issue is that garment is a sunset industry and Chinese companies would like to move to sectors that require a semi-skilled labor force and to add more value to their products.
Bangladesh isn't quite ready for that. Cambodia is. However, without the EBA/ GSP, increasing minimum wage and stricter labor laws, high electricity costs, and "fainting" workers, it makes more sense for those companies to move production to Vietnam. (That's pure speculation btw).
Though the Vietnam/ China relations aren't great, money has no color, no odor, no political affiliations, no gender, no LGBTQITHFGRTDGCBNSKXYZ, nothing. I'm afraid Cambodia is shooting itself in the foot. China has turned its back on Cambodia in the past after all.
