Phnom Penh Governer : Free bussing for KNY isn’t vote buying

The Governor of Phnom Penh, who is also the head of Phnom Penh City Hall, Khuong Sreng today (April 12) dismissed allegations that the government providing free bus rides for people during Khmer New Year is a tactic to buy votes (sub-national elections are in May).

Is this only from PP to the provinces and back? What about intra-city PP? All workers eligible, or only Khmer workers?

This morning I waited for a number 2 bus along side 100 other passengers and finally gave up after one hour. My guess is they have all been comindered to take people to the villages.

Last year they did the same, all city buses were used to send people to the provinces.

Ah well that explains why I waited 30 minutes for a bus on Monivong with 10 other people yesterday.

Anyway it's free for barang too, so no it's not vote buying. You're just getting a free ride for the sub-standard frequency.
