The first commune traffic light causes fatal traffic accident.

Missus’ commune just got its first traffic light this weekend. Placed at the intersection of the main road and the market.
Hours after it was activated, there was the first traffic accident. Reported on Facebook.
Light was red, guy on moto stopped at the light.
Big truck behind moto didn’t realize there was a new light installed and plowed over the guy.
Final photo showed the wife cradling the dead guy’s head, sobbing.
RIP. Condolences. Not everyone gets safety in the KOW. Be careful out there.

Don't stop at newly installed red lights if in /on anything but a big vehicle

Wait, wait, wait, we're in Cambodia, big truck didn't realize there was a moto stopped in the middle of the road ??? People stops in the middle of the road all the time, red light or not

Especially in front of a market any kind of vehicle can come from every direction and stop everywhere.
The reason for that accident is anything but the new traffic lights.

If you want to see how many vehicles take notice of traffic lights, then stand outside of,, or try to cross at the traffic lights on the corner of Riverhouse,, street 110 and riverside. . Pedestrians get the green cross light for 15 seconds and in that short space of time I usually count five or more cars and ten or more bikes and tuk-tuks going through the red light. There has NEVER EVER been a traffic cop at those lights.
