amazing, daily over 600 Khmers cross at Poi Pet with legal docs,(Non L-A visa) to work and live in Thailand
with 31,000 deported that is a huge loss of $$ for the poor of Cambodia.
PHNOM PENH, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- About 31,136 Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand were sent home through the Poipet International Border Checkpoint in 2018, according to a national police report on Friday.

Posted on its website, the report said those Cambodian nationals, including 10,591 women and 4,147 children, were expelled from Thailand to Cambodia because of their illegal status.

The deportations last year posted a 57 percent drop compared with the year before, it said, adding that some 73,275 Cambodian migrant workers were sent home from Thailand in 2017.

According to the Cambodian Ministry of Labor, approximately 1.06 million Cambodians have been working in Thailand and sending home around 1 billion U.S. dollars a year.

Again we are looking at the end result of a problem. I'm guessing that the cause of the problem is those that were deported were unable to get the proper work permits or whatever, because of lack of information or barriers that stop them from getting them.

Like not speaking or writing the language. And no money. This is the end result of a problem that they do not have jobs in their own country with proper wages.

FYI:
My gf has a 2 year Non L-A visa with work permit and Thai health card
Like not speaking or writing the language. And no money
All it takes is around 22,000 baht,( $680) . Many of them I saw at the Arayn labor office could not read nor write. There plenty of agents in Poi Pet and PP willing to front the $$ to the workers AND arrange jobs. Many of the jobs pay 10,000 baht and up (around $320/month) plus food and accommodations so better than doing the same shit job in Cambodia

BUT seems some dont want go thru that.
The ones that do are really protected by Thai labor laws while those that go the illegal route earn less and are constantly stressed cause they can be abused and deported at anytime.

There was a time that employers would hire illegals and than at the end of the month immigration showed up and the illegals had to run.
