Two Cambodian Fake Monks Busted in Siem Reap

Siem Reap, Cambodia: On January 4, 2019, at 3:30 pm, following a report by religious authorities, the Siem Reap police force invited two monks to Wat Piphouvong pagoda for questioning.
The two men have been identified:
- The first monk named Chau Srey Tong, Thanh Nhan, 32, born in Takeo province.
- Second Buddhist monk named Oeu Vutha, called Yay, 28 years old, was born in Kampong Cham Province.
Both of them are currently living in Kavao village, Siem Reap province.

Under questioning, the two monks revealed that they had bought the robes themselves and shaved their heads so that people would give them money. The two men were arrested by the police and ordered to disrobe immediately. Their drug tests proved to be negative.
