Court upholds guilty verdict against Turkish

The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a guilty verdict against a Turkish national who was sentenced by the lower court to nine years in prison on a child prostitution charge.
During his trial on November 14, Aydin Goktepe, 51, pleaded his innocence, claiming he was cheated by a “prostitute” when he asked her to find him a wife in 2014.
The girl’s family alleged in a lawsuit that Goktepe had had sex with her, each time paying her $300.
Goktepe was sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in 2015 to nine years’ imprisonment and ordered to pay six million riel ($1,500) in compensation to the girl’s family.
