Chinese Translator Detained for Stealing 555 Cigarettes

Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On October 11 at 06:12 pm, a 29-year-old Chinese translator, Kang Dymeng,was detained near Borey Vimean Kolab, Khan Chamkarmorn, Phnom Penh, for stealing two boxes of cartons of 555 cigarettes.The victim was identified as Ngoun Makara, 33-year-old, the owner of Li Na Na company.

After the arrest, police confiscated the two boxes of 555 cigarettes and a motorbike. The suspect was sent to the department of criminal of the Royal Gendarmerie in Phnom Penh for case preparation.

So, 2 boxes of 555. Would that be 1,110 cigarettes?

I was trying to figure out the math on this. It appears that what the pilfering man has are two master cases. These contain 50 cartons (500 packs.) or 10,000 cigarettes. State 555s are relatively expensive, but cigarettes are so cheap here that each case is probably only worth $500 or something.

Don't be silly. If you're going to get banged up for stealing a couple of cartons of smokes, at least steal Chunghwas.
