Ratanakiri, Cambodia News: On 21 September 2018, Banlung police raided a local guesthouse where young people were gathering, and 24 teenagers were detained for use of drugs and carrying illegal weapons (slingshots). Several small bags of methamphetamine and some drug equipment were found on the premises. The suspects were all taken to the station for questioning and drug tests.

Seriously, those slingshots made out of branches with elastic bands are illegal? They sell those things to tourists all over the region. They aren't harmless but how can they ban such rudimentary stuff?

I wonder if the police found the ammunition for those slingshots.

they sometimes bust people selling them in the markets.

Think it was more the meth than the slingshots that earned them the photos.

I recall 7 or 8 years ago, there was a spate of sling-shot attacks on tourists around riverside.

Iirc, one lady got nailed in the face whilst she sat inside a restaurant. The theory was that they were done through the window of a moving car by some rich punk kids.

Mysteriously stopped after about a month or so.

I hope those events don't resurrect themselves with those nasty looking air-soft pistols.

It's been coming and going but I haven't heard it happen for years now.

It must be a Ratanakiri thing: two other groups of teenagers, aged between 14 and 20, have been arrested by police in Banlung and in Yak Loem , on 26 September 2018, for detention of weapons.
