International Women's Day - Cambodia Style
AS everybody knows, the 8 March is International Women's Day, and in Cambodia Friday is a public holiday, so don't forget that the banks and government offices will be closed.
However, because this is Cambodia, women have been requested to celebrate the day discreetly indoors, and not to clog up the streets with women celebrating their emancipation, or asking for more rights and better living conditions.

City Hall bans public pro-women rallies, NGOs to defy order
As pro-women NGOs prepare to rally during the upcoming International Women’s Rights Day, City Hall today reiterated its stance prohibiting any demonstrations to be carried out in public in order to maintain order.
City Hall spokesman Met Meas Pheakdey today said authorities have banned all rallies by non-governmental organisations and associations on Friday.
“Congratulations on the day, but we are not allowing marches in the streets because they affect public order,” Mr Meas Pheakdey said, noting that NGOs are free to celebrate the occasion in their respective offices and other private locations.
He said that many NGOs and have already filed requests to hold rallies, but permission was not granted.

Re: International Women's Day - Cambodia Style
What is it (elsewhere) ?
International Women's Day 2019: Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change
The theme for International Women’s Day (8 March) this year, “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change”, puts innovation by women and girls, for women and girls, at the heart of efforts to achieve gender equality.
Achieving a gender-equal world requires social innovations that work for both women and men and leave no one behind. From urban planning that focuses on community safety to e-learning platforms that take classrooms to women and girls, affordable and quality childcare centres, and technology shaped by women, innovation can take the race for gender equality to its finishing line by 2030.
It begins with making sure that women’s and girls' needs and experiences are integrated at the very inception of technology and innovations. It means building smart solutions that go beyond acknowledging the gender gaps to addressing the needs of men and women equally. And ultimately, it needs innovations that disrupt business as usual, paying attention to how and by whom technology is used and accessed, and ensuring that women and girls play a decisive role in emerging industries.

The Cambodian Government is NOT Stupid. The simple reason for denying Street Rallies is that these Rallies most certainly will be abused by some NGO like LICADHO, ADHOC yes and even the notorious Human Rights Watch and of course by the already forbidden Opposition.
The UN Drive to "make Woman powerfull" is in my opinion driving a wedge between man and woman in many countries. Woman by nature are a lot more intelligent than man. They have methods and means to have things their way. When i look at the average western woman turning up here in Cambodia i always feel that something is very wrong with them. A lot of them seem to carry big mental issues around with them... while others MUST CHALLENGE men on every issue that is typically men to proof that they are the better gender that can do everything better ! Going down that pass leaves many men appaled and turned off women alltogether which in turn leaves woman to look "for a real man" !
And since we are at it. What about equality ? Let's have a MAN's day !! After all even with all the feminazi bullshit most men are still the providers and that's not because woman make less money. In many western countries the government enforced a WOMENS QUOTA in most big companies. So it's not the qualification that counts but the gender. What a bullshit !

Every day is "Man's Day", so it would seem rather superfluous celebrating it unless you were some sort of homosexualist.kaputt wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2019 10:53 pm The Cambodian Government is NOT Stupid. Women’s day means women are unequal to men. Think about it
