Phnom Penh: Two Interior Ministry officers were arrested yesterday by Phnom Penh police for allegedly threatening to kill two traffic policemen who wanted to impound their Lexus RX 570, after one of the suspects had a drunken accident. The two suspects, who were identified as Try Darin, 38, and Srun Piseth, 32, were arrested at about 5am yesterday and are detained for questioning by police.


Mr Darin, who was very drunk and driving very fast, crashed his car about 2am along National Road 5 . When the traffic police arrived on the scene of the accident, he became angry, and began waving his pistol around, menacing the officers. He tried to leave the scene in the car, but all his tyres were flat, so he called his friend Mr Piseth, who towed his car away. The two men were arrested by Phnom Penh police several hours later.

So which ones get promoted and which ones get demoted ?

Police found the weapon at the residence of the principal suspect, and both suspects have been charged with conspiracy and acts under article 29 and article 234 of the Penal Code. After being officially charged, the case has now been sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court Prosecutor for continued proceedings.

So does that mean ministry cops are less well connected than local cops?
