So it's official. They're going to send more poor people...

In a country already stricken by poverty it's just absurd to send them the impoverished. Beyond absurd... it's like purple midgets riding unicorns absurd. No surprise then that the PM has agreed to let it happen.

My predictions: The money given Cambodia to essentially support them vanishes, we get new slums that are only filled with people from Nauru (what the fuck is Nauru? Going to have to look that up.), and the UN ends up setting up camps for them and funding the whole thing until the PM kicks them out for meddling too much, then we just have wandering poverty stricken Nauruvians(?) begging on the riverside or robbing people. After a while the locals get fed up (with the competition) and we have race beatings and killings. Meanwhile Australia tries to kill any press about it or just spins it on making Cambodia look like shit.
Of 68 asylum seekers or refugees already living in Cambodia most are desperate to be relocated to another country, welfare groups say.

Back in 2001 or 2002 i was teaching a class( in PP, can't remember which school though, maybe SITC) that had an Afghani (ladyboy) refugee. He was about 18 and the rest of the class was mostly female 15/16 year olds . Lucky fucker was being molested all over the place, oh cher, he so beautiful we just play play, and he just didn't know what to do!

More people to drain off the Cambodia welfare system. It barely supports the poor people they have now.

It won't be people from Nauru. It will be refugees already denied access to Australia and detained in Nauru while being processed.

It's also far from a done deal and I think unlikely to happen. The previous government tried to do the same thing but with Malaysia and that was blocked by the high court in the end, if I remember correctly.

From the tone of that article it sounds pretty done... to the tune that they have already been interviewing people.

I thought it was "In theory" he agreed, not that it was a done deal.

Cambodia’s strongman Prime Minister HE has confirmed his impoverished country will accept refugees from Australia in a controversial agreement condemned by human rights and refugee advocates.

It is reported to cost $900/diem to detain them in tents now.
I wonder what will be paid per head to take them?
7 figures each i bet.

Hard to decided which Govt is more morally bankrupt - Aussies or CPP.

Shameful conduct from a supposedly First World Country
