Taiwanese Arrested for Drugs in Stop and Search Operation

Cambodia News(Preah Sihanouk): On 30 September 2023, the Anti-Drug Task Force of Preah Sihanouk City arrested a Taiwanese man who was driving a MERCEDES car (with Cambodian license plate CL 8998) when they found that he was carrying illegal drugs. The suspect was arrested and sent to the provincial court for legal action.

The arrest occured as the Anti-Drug Task Force of the Sihanoukville Police Inspectorate was conducting a random stop and search of vehicles for weapons, explosives, and drugs by Port Lay Casino in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk Province. During the search of the Mercedes, police uncovered one box and one small bottle of white crystalline powder suspected to be drugs.
Following this discovery, the Anti-Drug Force of Sihanoukville City later arrested four suspects from Taiwan and handed them over to the Anti-Drug Police Office for processing and investigation.

The four suspects are as follows:
1. Hsiao Yu Ruei, male, 30 years old, Taiwanese, occupation: Karaoke staff.
2. Chen Jian An, male, 31 years old, Taiwanese, occupation: food seller.
3. Ting Hao Yi, male, 26 years old, Taiwanese, unknown occupation.
4. Huang Jhe Li, male, 24 years old, Taiwanese, unknown occupation.

The confiscated exhibits include three packets of white powder suspected to be drugs, one box and two small bottles, twelve mobile phones, one drug scales, one car, two passports, and one work permit.
