Phnom Penh: On July 20, a 29 year old man, Kim Vannak, got beaten by locals after he failed to snatch a bag from an unidentified foreigner on Preah Sisowath street/ street 118, Sangkat Psar Kandal, Phnom Penh.

The police said that before the incident, the victim was walking along the riverside at Sisowath, near the corner of St 118. Suddenly, two suspects rode up on their motorbike, and attempted to snatch a bag from the victim, but they were unable to get the bag. The thief on the back, who was in charge of snatching the bag, then fell off the motorbike. He was set upon by angry local people who beat him up. The other bag snatcher took off with the bike in a hurry before they could rough him up too.

After the incident, the police took the suspect to the police post for questioning.
