Siem Reap: On the evening of July 16 at 8:10 pm, there was a gas explosion at the ground floor of The Heritage Walk, a brand new shopping mall in Siem Reap.

According to the police, the problem occurred when workers were installing the gas system into the kitchen on the ground floor of the mall. Due to a technical problem during the installation, the gas exploded causing the fire.

The fire was put out completely, after using 8 firetrucks from Siem Reap police station and the Siem Reap Gendarmerie. Fortunately, there was nobody injured.

Sure the fire brigade were there in double-time, unlike with other fires.

And owned by the Governor, thus the fast response. And probably no demand by the fire brigade for a $800 "tip".

A slow response would have been difficult as the fire engines are parked behind Amansara which is about 300m from the new shopping centre.
Having said that the vehicles are parked there. No idea where the fire brigade hangs out!

A few years ago there was a fire at a market about 500 meters from the fire station. Took the fire brigade 2 hours to rock up.

I have a friend that works for the governor; he told me it is the governor’s venture.

At least one the main owners and the chairwoman of the company that is behind the mall is wife of HE's son. Of course doesn't mean that the governor is not involved also.
