Woman Trafficker Arrested with 671 WY pillls and Other Drugs

Preah Vihear: On July 12 at 12:30 pm, the colonel Men Lee, provincial police chief, and colonel Hom Pirum, Somrong district governor, led police officials on a drug raid which led to the arrest of a 28-year-old woman, Chhern Mary, in Somrong City, Preah Vihear.

During the raid, the police confiscated 671 pills of WY yama pills*, one large pack and 4 small packs of Methamphetamine (Ice), 2 phones, 305,000 riel cash, and some drug using equipment.




* What are WY pills ?
Yaba/Yama is typically produced in a round pill form. There are many different versions of ya ba, and the most common are red, orange, or lime green in color and carry logos such as "R" or "WY". They are small and round, roughly 6 millimetres (0.24 in) in diameter.
The majority of long term effects associated with ya ba are analogous with those of methamphetamine, as ya ba mainly consists of caffeine and methamphetamine.

Burma (Myanmar) is the largest producer of methamphetamine in the world, with the majority of ya ba found in Thailand being produced in Burma, particularly in the Golden Triangle and northeastern Shan State, which borders Thailand, Laos, and China. In 2010, Burma trafficked 1 billion tablets to neighboring Thailand.Ethnic militias and rebel groups (in particular the United Wa State Army) are responsible for much of this production; however, the Burmese military units are believed to be heavily involved in the trafficking of the drugs.

A similar arrest was carried out by Steung Treng police two days ago.


Steung Treng: Siempang district police arrested a couple who were trafficking 331 pills of WY drugs on July 12, in Siempang district, Steung Treng.


The suspects were identified as Chai Pirum, a 39 year old man, and his wife, Thong Vanndit, 35 years old. The police confiscated 331 orange pills of WY drug.
