KANDAL - On July 05 at 6 am, in yet another factory truck accident, a truck transporting factory workers overturned on National road 3, Kandal Steung district, Kandal. Ten factory workers were seriously injured in the accident and were taken for medical treatment.



Accidents involving trucks that transport workers are frequent, and often result in dead or injured workers, because the trucks are overloaded and in bad condition, and the drivers often have no license .

More than 20 garment workers sustained injuries when the truck they were traveling in overturned in Kandal province’s Kandal Stung district due to overloading and reckless driving, police said.

“According to our observation, no one got serious injuries like broken arms and legs. They just got bruises on their bodies. The driver of the truck was trying to overtake another car and there was a tuk-tuk coming from the opposite direction and trying to evade it by abrupt braking, making the truck to overturn on the side of the road,” he said.

He added that the truck was on its way to a garment factory and the driver escaped the scene.
