Another case of road rage by an armed up dude in a car accident.



Phnom Penh: A run-of-the-mill traffic accident became an incident, at 6:30 pm on June 25, 2018, point 488 in Phsar Deum Thkov, Khan Chamkar Morn, Phnom Penh, when a white Toyota 2AF-9766 hit and slightly damaged another vehicle. The driver, who has yet to be identified, then pulled out a gun and made his escape.
Phnom Penh police intervened rapidly and the suspect was apprehended before being taken to the Chamkarmon Police Station for further education and legal action.

Update.
The "accident" was only a ding.



The road rager was given a comfortable chair at the police station after he had been "educated".

Further update: The driver has been identified as Mao Chan Raksmey, 41, deputy director of the Department of Housing Practice of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

That'll look great on his CV.

Gun-toting official leads police on car chase

A high-ranking government official was arrested on Monday after allegedly threatening to kill a traffic policeman following a car accident in Phnom Penh’s Chamkar Mon district.

Mao Chanreaksmey, 41, deputy director of the technical and housing department at the Ministry of Land Management, also allegedly led police on a half-hour car chase.

District police officer Keo Sophal said Mr Chanreaksmey, who was drunk, drove his Toyota Highlander along Street 488 in Phsar Doum Thkov commune.

Mr Chanreaksmey hit a car driven by Hun Samsen Oudom, 35, from behind, causing slight damage. Mr Chanreaksmey stopped the car, but did not get out. He slept in a drunken state in the car.

Because Mr Chanreaksmey did not get out to discuss the accident, Mr Samsen Oudom hailed local traffic police on duty nearby.

“When the traffic officer knocked on his car door to wake him up, Mr Chanreaksmey pulled a pistol from the car and pointed it at the policeman,” said Mr Sophal. “He threatened to shoot the policeman. After the threat, he fled in his car.”

Traffic police on motorbikes gave chase for half an hour. Mr Chanreaksmey was then arrested in Tuol Tumpoung I commune.
