Teen arrested over casino feud killing
21 June 2018
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Svay Rieng province’s Bavet city for allegedly murdering a Chinese-Malaysian man.

Major Sok Vichetr, deputy commander of Svay Rieng provincial military police, identified the suspect as Siem Chhayden, who was arrested on Tuesday afternoon at the Good Luck Casino on the Vietnam border.

Maj Vichetr identified the victim as Carsen Tiong Kai Seng, 63, who was killed on Monday at a night market bathroom in Bavet Kandal village.

Maj Vichetr said that Mr Chhayden confessed to the killing when questioned at the provincial military police headquarters following his arrest.
Mr Chhayden told police he and the victim, who were gamblers, had got into a dispute over a room to sleep in after they stopped playing games at the casino.

The victim then occupied the room, said Maj Vichetr.

“According to his confession, he was angry at the victim over the dispute and for occupying the room that he wanted to sleep in,” Maj Vichetr said. “He then took a steel bar and struck him many times on his head and face.”
