The accident surprized local people and officials, because it happened in a field on a mango farm belonging to Keat Ling Lei plantation, which is close to the village, and has been used for many years without incident.

There was another mine explosion caused by parental negligence in Preah Vihear yesterday, which tragically killed a little boy.

Cambodia News (Preah Vihear): On July 26, 2020, a B-40 mine exploded, killing a 4-year-old boy and injuring 4 other people in Sroem Thbong village, Cham Kamsan district, Preah Vihear.

It's reported that 3 or 4 months earlier, the victim's father took the mine to burn it, but it hadn't exploded. Then yesterday, the little kid took the mine to play karaoke, and he pounded it, causing the explosion. The boy was killed at the scene, and two other children and the victim's parents were injured.
A tragic accident that was totally avoidable. More education is needed. RIP.

". More education is needed " No shit !!!!!!!

Something along the lines of " If you see a mine don't burn it or let your children play with it " Unbelievable.

I had a friend claim that when he was young he went through a faze with another of starting plots of land on fire on the Turkish-Syrian border and that caused sime mines to pop off. They'd lay on their bellies somewhere and watch. I never knew that was possible, but I guess if it's some old piece of sht.
