Police Seize 20Kg of Meth in Inter-Provincial Drug Raid

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Cambodian Department of Anti-Drug Crimes on January 8 and 9, 2023, cooperated with two provincial police commissions in accordance with orders by General Neth Savoeun, General Commissioner of the National Police, to crack down on an illegal drug trafficking ring in Kampong Speu and Banteay Meanchy provinces.

According to the report from the Anti-Drug Department, the police crackdown was carried out at three different locations in the two provinces:
1. Along National Road 41, Samrong Tong District, Kampong Speu Province.
2. Crackdown inside Mittapheap Restaurant, Stang Ta Nguon Village, Palilei 2 Sangkat, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province.
3. Crackdown in Kbal Spean 1 village, Sangkat Palilay 1, Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province.


The combined forces arrested 5 suspected drug dealers and confiscated 19,150 kilograms of methamphetamine (aka ICE), stored in 1 kilogram bags of Chinese tea.

The five suspects detained:
1. Name: Srey Kimsour, male, 38 years old
2. Name: Khem Sopheak, male, 34 years old
3. Name: Phan Komsat, male, 39 years old
4. Unnamed, male, 36 years old (Mastermind and drug owner)
5. Name: Chea Rong, male, 41 years old.


After arresting the suspects and confiscating the exhibits, the case was sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to continue the proceedings.
