Russian hospital thief arrested on the job

PHNOM PENH - A 39 year old construction worker named Sok Heng was arrested on 12 April 2018 for stealing money and telephones from two visitors to the Russian Hospital. The two victims, Keo Sophal, 34, and Sek Samnang,41, were sleeping at the hospital on the floor of a patient's room, when the suspect allegedly came in about 1am and stole a handbag containing 93,000 riel and two telephones from the patient's bedside.
After the theft, the suspect left the building to look for a motorbike to steal in order to make his getaway. His suspicious behaviour drew the attention of a hospital security guard who stopped and questioned the suspect. When he saw that the suspect was carrying a woman's handbag, he apprehended him and held him until the police arrived.
