Cambodian murderer caught after posting selfie on social media

Man kills his cousin for $20 to buy drugs

Police said that at 08:50 pm on 29 December 2017 there was a murder at # 11 Ezine Street, Street 140, Monorom District, 7th Floor. The suspect, 26 year old Heng Panha, went to his 20 year old cousin's place that night, asking for $20 to buy drugs. When his cousin told him to get lost, the suspect allegedly murdered him with a knife.
Heng then fled from the scene of the crime and went to hide out in Thailand. While he was there, he started a social media account under the name of Ah Yong and posted photos of himself. There was an international warrant out for his arrest, and thanks to his social media posts, the victim's relatives recognized him, and he was tracked down and arrested by Thai police. Heng was handed over to the Cambodia authorities on 12 January 2018, and will be charged with murder.
