Father-in-Law Stabbed to Death for Intervening in Couple's Quarrel

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh) :Meanchey district authorities have arrested the son-in-law of the victim of a fatal stabbing, which occurred at 3:30 pm on August 13, 2021 in a house in Tnot Chrum 4 Village, Sangkat Boeung Tumpun 2, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

A witness said that the daughter of the victim and her husband were constantly arguing, and when the quarrel became heated, the 60-year-old man, named Bun Sovanna, attempted to intervene to help his daughter.

Then, the son-in-law, a naval officer named Heng Sao Raksmey, 31 years old, stabbed his father-in-law with a knife several times. The police were notified, and the victim was rushed to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship hospital by ambulance, but unfortunately it was impossible to save him.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on April 25, 2022, brought a murder case to trial where two defendants, a married couple, were involved in the stabbing of their father or father-in-law at 3:30 pm on August 13, 2021, in a Borey in Tnot Chrum 4 Village, Sangkat Boeung Tumpun 2, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

The couple are both charged with murder and are mutually accusing each other of the killing of 60-year-old Bun Sovanna, their father and father-in-law, and the court will reopen the investigation as the trial proper begins.

The couple are identified as Heng Sao Raksmey, male, 31 years old, a Marine (husband) and the wife is Bun Sofer, a 30-year-old woman, who sells products online ; both are charged with murder under Article 199 of Penal Code.

According to Heng Sao Raksmey, on the day of the dispute, his wife was holding a knife, and the father shouted to drop the knife, and he rushed to grab the knife, and was stabbed by his daughter.

According to the woman, Bun Sofer, on the day of the incident, she had a dispute with her husband and her father went upstairs to stop the fighting. When he shouted at them, her husband got angry and stabbed him, causing him to die.
After the stabbing, the couple took the old man to the hospital, but he died from his knife wound.
The case is in progress.

Because she has been accused of killing a person, a counter claim has been made that her husband did the killing, so they have both been arrested.
Are you suggesting that an investigation and subsequent trail are not required, rather that the guy be automatically presumed guilty and the woman be automatically presumed innocent?
