Let's all hear it for Nagaworld!

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

PHNOM PENH (Bernama) -- The majestic-looking NagaWorld integrated entertainment and hotel complex could not have had a more vantage location.

Overlooking the picturesque silty basin where the mighty Mekong river crosses the Tonle Sap river, here, NagaWorld is a godsend to the locals who are struggling to free themselves from the clutches of poverty.

Owned by Malaysian tycoon Tan Sri Dr Chen Lip Keong, the complex - consisting of NagaWorld 1 and NagaWorld 2 - has some 7,000 employees on the payroll, 90 per cent of whom are Cambodians.

Among them is health spa worker Maia, who did not disclose her full name. She and her fellow workers, who work in various parts of the complex, mostly hail from impoverished backgrounds but they have been getting a decent income after finding employment at NagaWorld.

They earn about USD250 (RM1,022) a month and with tips thrown in, they can take home up to USD400 (RM1,636).....

Naga has come a long way since they just had a ship in the Bassac River. They invested here very early on and were rewarded for that. Their new building is incredible. That said, I've never been in a casino in my life, and have zero interest in ever going to one.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I think Mohd Faizal Hassan's point is that it's bloody marvelous. I wonder if he's heard about the billions of laundered money that allegedly go through that place. Anyone for junket?

Any average, non-connected person, applying for a job at Nagaworld, is required to kickback at least their first 3 months salary. Security guards start at $150 per month. Some are told that they need to pay $500 up front. Some are told that they can just sign for, but not collect their salary for 3 months.

I thought it was just Abc123's editorial input, but Mohd Faizal Hassan really did end the article with no less than five full stops.

Because there's more to read, and if you want to read on, you have to subscribe. Not sure why you would pay to read this sort of advertising, but.....

That's why its always good to have the link to the article to know where it comes from. Bernama is the official state Malaysian news agency, and NagaWorld is owned by one of Malaysia's richest men. All becomes clear.
Bernama
The Malaysian National News Agency (Malay: Pertubuhan Berita Nasional Malaysia), abbreviated BERNAMA, is a news agency of the government of Malaysia. It is an autonomous body placed under the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia. Bernama is an abbreviation of Berita Nasional Malaysia. Bernama also means named or titled in the Malay language. It was set up by an Act of Parliament in 1967 and started work on 20 May 1968. Being the Malaysian government's official news agency, Bernama's content and views are decidedly right-leaning and pro-government of the day.
