Woman dies locked in burning Prey Veng apartment

Prey Veng: At 9:45 am on April 3, 2018, a woman died when a fire broke out at village number 4 in Sangkat Kampong Leav, Prey Veng City, in an apartment situated above a car repair shop. She was identified as Nhim Teang, 47 years old.
The owner of the car repair shop, husband of the deceased woman, and their two sons had gone out, and the woman found herself alone in the apartment when the fire broke out. Tragically, the door between the family apartment and the ground-floor shop was locked, and the woman was trapped inside, unable to escape, and even the fire-fighters could not save her. Her body was found in the first floor apartment.


Police said that the fire was particularly fierce because the car repair shop was full of inflammable products such as petrol, oil and greasy car parts. Four fire trucks came to the scene and it took them an hour to combat the blaze.
