The international news (Evening Times for the People of Glasgow) has picked up a story about the homeless man, Gary Moreno, when 2 tourists, Robbie Tarran and Sarah Robertson, found him and tried to help him get home, which he clearly doesn't want.

The couple from Scotland posted this:

"PLEASE HELP AND SHARE THIS

We were walking through Siem Reap today in Cambodia and came across a Scottish man who needs help. He told us that his name is Gary Mereno, he lived in Glasgow, and was born 17th April 1973. He's been sleeping on the streets for 2 years and has no money, no shoes and can barely walk due to an accident. He wouldn't say what happened but his legs are cut and infected. He doesn't say much apart from his passport has been stolen and he wants to go home. The foreign office won't help until we find a family member or friend to financially help him get home. We told him we would post on Facebook to try and find someone who knows him. Please share this to help find his family or friends."

The homeless Scotsman who calls himself "Gary Mereno" has graced the pages of CEO before here:

And a sad video of him in rough condition:

Strange to say, but the guy looks loads better - or much less worse - than on the video a year ago.

Good luck to his guardian angels. He probably doesn't want to go back to Glasgow, but good for them for trying to help him.

Edit - I just reread the OP and now I see what the kids are trying to do - let his family know, so they can bail him out - but I think they must already know. Oh well, good luck anyway.

Why are they trying to help him get home if he doesn't want help or to go home?

The new stories say he WANTS to go home.

Which is it?

Parkinson's disease... or tweaking on meth?

They seem like kind-hearted leap year do-gooders, and were volunteering to build schools or something in Cambodia before they met Gary. They wanna help, so everyone's getting help whether it helps or not, God dammit!

No offence to the Scots on here, but most would prefer to be in Cambodia down and out than in Scotland.

It's a bit warm here for the Scots, they mostly move to Canada or New Zealand

Nearly every bar on sok san tried to help him out but gave up. Never takes his meds and instead prefers booze and drugs which makes his conditions even worse.

That's a lie.

Gary cannot afford his meds, who are you to tell the people about his condition?

Are you a doctor?
