Chinese Man Robbed Carrying $20K Between Banks

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Two male suspects in Phnom Penh, who robbed a foreigner of more than 20,000 dollars, were arrested by the Criminal Police Office of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Interior and a case was filed and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on the morning of May 21, 2021 for legal action.


According to the police, the first suspect is named Svay Rithy alias Boy, 25 years old, unspecified occupation, arrested on Street 288, Sangkat Boeung Keng Kang II, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh.
Second, Chum Siden, male, 31 years old, unspecified occupation, arrested at the intersection of National Road 4, Sangkat Kantouk, Khan Kambol, Phnom Penh, was identified as the bag snatcher by the victim.
The victim was named as WONG KIN WAH, a 38 years old Chinese national.


The bag snatching occurred on May 18, 2021, at 15:30, when the Chinese man left ABA Bank with a bag of money and boarded a motorbike with the intention of going to Huay One Bank on Norodom Street.

He was wearing the bag, which contained USD20K in cash, on his right shoulder as he arrived in front of Pencil Market, Street 214, when suddenly, two suspects rode up on a motorbike and snatched his bag. The two thieves then made their escape. However, after a report by the Chinese man, the police tracked down the two culprits and arrested them.
