Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Fake monks attack 68yo motodop, beat him and steal his motorbike

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

The fake monks are getting worse. Most of the time, they are only involved in begging scams, but in this case, two men committed disgraceful acts of violence on a defenseless old man while dressed in monk robes . Shame on them.

Prey Veng: 2 fake monks, Sim Visal, 22 years old and Bol Panha, 20 years old, were arrested after they attacked a 68 year old motordop driver to steal his motorbike at 2:30 pm on April 26, in Tamong village, Kampong Trobek district, Prey Veng.
Before the incident, the two suspects called the victim to pick them up at Beung Kro Tep Pagoda. When the victim arrived, the two suspects pulled him off his bike on to the ground, where they viciously hit and kicked him.

Leaving the injured victim in the dust, the suspects took the Honda motorbike, plate no. 1G-1393, and rode toward the north side to escape. But the authorities were on the case, and they chased the two suspects by motorbike until Sonon Jae village, where they caught up with them as they were shedding their monk disguises. Both men were immediately arrested, and are at present detained at the local police station.

Fake monks in chains. (Sounds like a new rock band.)
