Battambang - Three project managers from Battambang Conch Cement were injured on Friday evening after a group of Chinese and Cambodian workers began beating them during a protest to demand their wages.

The protest was held outside the company office in Ratanak Mondul district, where about 50 workers hired by the three project managers gathered to demand their dues.

The district deputy police chief said the project managers did not have money to pay the workers they had hired because they spent it on gambling.
“They gambled at casinos and so they did not have the money to pay the workers on the due date,” he said. “We went there to stop the protest at the factory along with 20 to 30 military police and police officers.”
